The correct answer is “lie down in a dark room and sleep it off”, but I can’t. I’m at the computer for the next hour and a half, then travelling. Advil? Massage? Coffee? Hopping on one foot?

A migraine has appeared on the scene, and I postulate that the only thing worse than the office (fluorescent lighting, noise) with a migraine would (will) be Dulles with a migraine. Or, more likely, public transportation on the way to Dulles with a migraine.

I’ll test these hypotheses in two and a half hours.

I just want to be on the fucking 5A to Dulles, knowing that I have rush hour traffic to contend with, ready to enter the hellmouth that is IAD and maybe grab some Five Guys on my way to the gate.

I got a Southwest boarding pass in the A group (because I’m a champion), my luggage next to me, and about 8 un-listened-to This American Lifes (or would it be “lives”? Oh man) on my ipod.

But I will be working for the next five hours.

I am going to explode with waitingness.

I can’t comment on the acting because I didn’t catch Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner doing any. They basically primp and pose through the same humdrum motions they did before.

Late in the film, a real actor, Michael Sheen (Frost/Nixon), shows up as the mind-reading Aro, of the Italian Volturi vampires, and sparks things up. You can almost hear the young cast thinking, “Is that acting? It looks hard.” So Sheen is quickly ushered out, and New Moon begins swanning toward certain box-office glory.

A new photo book by Daniele Tamagni explores the phenomenon of sapeurs, a clique of extraordinarily dressed dandies from the Congo. In the midst of war and abject poverty, these men dress in tailored suits, silk ties, and immaculate footwear.

It’s hard to know how to read this particular trend: is this a post-colonial pastiche of the oppressors’ style of dress? Or an example of a subjugated and still impoverished people hoodwinked into spending untold sums on European labels?

I used to turn my nose up at bacon chocolate, too. And then I tried some.
